Our Goal… is to nurture and encourage each and every student to do their best.  Our entire staff is devoted to building a studio of excellence and uncompromising dedication to the ideal of quality in dance education for our students.  We aim to develop our students in both body and mind as well as to help enable them to suceed in the world from the confidence that dance can provide. We thank you for trusting High Energy Dance Academy with your child’s dance education and look forward to having your child enrolled at our studio. Our Policies…High Energy Dance Academy offers a complete dance curriculum, under the direction of Ellen Aker. Our staff is comprised of well trained, qualified teachers with years of individual experience in educating children and adults in the discipline of dance.

Registration… is on a first come-first serve basis. Once classes are full, a waiting list will be maintained. All students are placed in classes according to their dance ability. We will be happy to talk with you regarding their placement or if you have any questions.

Registration Fee… This is a non-refundable application fee paid by all students to secure a place in class. The fee is $25.00 per student/$40.00 per Family.

Payment Schedule… Tuition is based on a 10 month calendar year from September through June. Tuition payments are paid by the 5th day of every month. You may pay by cash, check or money orders. See "Tuition" for detailed information. All tuition and costume balances must be paid in full in order to participate in our annual recital.

There is a $50.00 fee on all returned checks.

Tuition Discounts… High Energy Dance Academy offers discounts for famlies or multiple classes. Family discounts apply to immediate family members, ONLY. See “Tuition” for more information.

Refunds and Withdrawals… NO Refunds or credits for missed classes. High Energy Dance Academy is a tuition contracted studio. Should you decide to withdraw a student from class after 30 days, you will still be responsible for the tuition balance until the ending date of the contract*.

Dress Code… Wearing the proper attire for class is important. It helps the Instructor see the dancers alignment and thus properly correct their technique. Proper dance attire is required for all dance classes. Please visit “Class Description” for a list of proper leotard, tights and shoe requirements for each class. Dress codes are strictly enforced. Proper dance wear is a part of the discipline of dance, and ensures that your dancer will get proper training. Due to limited space, ALL dancers will arrive in dance wear and be ready to dance.

Grooming…

Hair must be neatly secured back off the face and up off the neck. 

NO jewelry.  (Small post earrings are acceptable) Not only is it dangerous and a distraction, but it can be lost.

Dance Shoes… ALL dancers are required to wear proper dance shoes. (socks and bare feet are not permitted at any time!) We suggest that you purchase a dance bag for your dancer and keep shoes, water and hair accessories in it at all times. Have your dancer check it before she/he comes to dance. This will help teach them the importance of being prepared and organized. Dance shoes are to be worn only on the dance floor! (Outside has grease, dirt, gum and all kinds of things that can be stepped on). Many dancers wear their dance shoes under big slippers. Cute idea!

Attendance… on a regular basis is essential for the student to progress. Tuition refunds or credits will not be made for missed classes. 

Tardiness… Being late disrupts and distracts the entire class. If your child is more than 15 minutes late for class he/she will not be able to participate. They will still be required to sit and observe the class.  Dancers may be dropped off 10 minutes early, and must be picked up no later than 10 minutes after class. Please see the Instructor if special arrangements need to be made. 

Make-Up Classes… If your child is sick or unable to attend his or her scheduled class, High Energy Dance does not offer make up classes or refunds. 

If an Instructor cancels a class, a make-up class will be held. These classes are generally held on the weekends, not to interfere with scheduled classes. An Instructor, Office Manager, or a "Class Mom" will notify each student of the make-up class date and time in writing. It is important to keep all contact information updated and correct. 


Inclement Weather  and Cancellations… During inclement weather, High Energy Dance Academy will follow the Humboldt County Public School calendar for closings related to bad weather. We highly recommend calling the studio 1 hour prior to scheduled class time, to see if the class has been cancelled. Since this is not weekly tuition, the rates are not adjusted from classes cancelled due to holidays, inclement weather or any other uncontrollable circumstances. Likewise, there is NO EXTRA CHARGE for months that have 5 classes.

Studio Calendar… information on all events and holiday breaks throughout the year. Add this site to your favorites and be sure to reference all year.

Observing Classes… Instructors will not allow parents or friends to sit in the studio rooms; this is a distraction to the student, other dancers and the Instructor. An opportunity to observe your child’s progress in dance class will be held during the course of the dance season. Parents: If you need to speak with the Instructor, and it is NOT an emergency, please call the studio, email, or leave a message in the message box located by the door.

Observation Day... Check "Studio Calendar" for dates and times for parent observation days. Friends must wait until “Bring A friend To Class” day. 

NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

Water… We suggest that students bring a water bottle with them to class. It is very important to stay hydrated.

Cubbies… All items should be stored in the cubbies, located in the dance room. Coat Racks are located in the waiting area and dance room. Items left on the floor create a fire hazard & safety concern.

For safety reasons... NO STROLLERS or CAR SEATS in the Lobby.

Bathroom Policy… We ask that the dancer use the bathroom before class.  For the little ones it can be a chain effect, if one needs to use it, then they all want to. Bathrooms are not for changing before or after class. Siblings may not use the bathroom located in the dance room. This interferes with the class in session.

NO Chewing Gum...in the studio. 

NO Food...in the studio. 

Students…Please remember to clean up after yourself.

Annual Studio Production… As part of their participation in the show, the students learn cooperation, stage presence and direction, to overcome shyness and to project their individual personalities.  This most enjoyable event affords students the opportunity to perform on a stage and to see the inner workings and magic of the theatre. Each student will need one costume for each dance performed in the annual recital. Please see “Recital and Costume Information” for more information.

Home Practice… plays a vital role in class advancement. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!

Before or after class is not the appropriate time to speak with the Instructor. All issues will be resolved in a respectful and professional manner. High Energy Dance Academy is always open to new and helpful suggestions.

Please Note… We are not responsible for any articles that are lost or stolen left in the studio. Parents are responsible for their child/children at all times when they are at High Energy Dance Academy (except when in the classroom).  The studio assumes no liability for personal injury. High Energy Dance Academy will not be held liable for any injury or accident that occurs in class or on school premises. High Energy Dance Academy has the right to consolidate classes. The studio has the right to remove any student from the school who may have an excessive amount of absences or lateness.
